Volleyball roundup: Washington beats Watertown
Washington's volleyball team defeated Watertown 3-0 but it wasn't easy as the Warriors won a marathon third game 34-32 on Tuesday in Watertown.
The Warriors won the first two games 25-15 and 25-22.
Ashlyn Hazard had 10 kills and Payton Zwart nine for Washington. Hazard also had five blocks and 16 digs, while Zwart had 18 digs. Lacey Lewis had 32 assists.
For Watertown, Tia Hemiller had 11 kills and 10 digs. Emily Pengilly had 15 assists. Alanna Pengilly had 20 digs and Christine Hickel 19.
Elk Point-Jefferson def. Canton 25-19, 25-13, 25-15 in Elk Point - Kelly Reed had 17 kills and four blocks to lead No. 3 Elk Point-Jefferson over Canton in Big Sioux Conference volleyball action.
Kayla Hilbrands had 24 digs and Breanna Bertram had 31 set assists for Huskies, who improved to 7-1, 3-0 in the Big Sioux. For Canton (4-3, 1-1), Jaicee Ulmer had four kills, Heather Willet 16 digs and Kristin Peterson six assists.
EP-J visits Lennox on Tuesday while the C-Hawks host Dell Rapids.

Sports briefs: Warriors lead city golf tourney
Washington shot a 152 on Tuesday at Minnehaha Country Club to retain its lead after two rounds of the city boys golf tournament.
O'Gorman shot a 154, Roosevelt 158 and Lincoln 161. Washington has a two-round total of 300. O'Gorman is at 307, Roosevelt 310 and Lincoln 322. Washington's Colin Farritor and O'Gorman's Max Donohue shot 35s, the top score of the day by three strokes. Donohue leads the tourney with a 71, one shot better than Farritor.
The third round is Monday at Willow Run.
